Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for End-of-Line (EOL) leadership in a cross-functional team. You will guide EOL test-system installations from development through launch, ensuring adherence to Global Vehicle Operations standards and ergonomic practices.

Role requires experience with automated testing, optical calibration, and EOL software/hardware improvements. Travel up to 80% and hybrid onsite work at North American plants are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting new product launches.
  • 2+ years of experience with automated testing systems.
  • 2+ years of experience with optical measurement and calibration systems.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Support change control by evaluating impact of product changes on EOL costs and labor.
  • Provide onsite prototype-build support at North American manufacturing plants.
  • Travel up to 80% of time within the US, Canada, and Mexico.

What You’ll Do...
  • Vehicle Operations Manufacturing Engineering is a cross-functional team with the primary responsibility of planning for and implementing the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants.
  • The Manufacturing Engineer, End of Line candidate will be part of this team and will be responsible for the following:
    • Provide End-of-Line (EOL) Manufacturing Engineering leadership throughout a new-model development program, from KO through launch.
    • Ensure compliance with GVOSS (Global Vehicle Operations Structured Standards) and ergonomic standards for EOL test-system installations.
    • Develop and implement improvements to EOL software and hardware using data from the EOL Dashboard and ReportLogic Reporting Systems.
    • Assist in the preparation of NMP management reviews and perform data collection to support presentations.
    • Lead EOL capital-project teams to develop capital appropriation requests and manage projects from concept through commissioning.
    • Lead costing for EOL test implementation and identify acceptable cost-reduction opportunities, including writing scopes of work for EOL test systems.
    • Support change control by evaluating the impact of product changes on EOL test-equipment costs and labor.
    • Provide onsite prototype-build support at North American manufacturing assembly plants.
      • Travel within the United States, Canada, and Mexico for installation, launch support, and issue resolution may require up to 80% of dedicated time onsite.
    • Write functional descriptions for software and hardware modifications and assist in writing scopes of work.
    • Coordinate all pre-launch EOL validation events from DCV through MP2.
    • Assist plant and implementation teams in resolving EOL performance issues.
    • Lead daily troubleshooting activities.
      • Coordinate cross-functional resources to identify root causes and corrective actions.
      • Manage and break down problems into items that can be validated.
    • Determine accurate validation methods.
    • Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant repair personnel when required.
    • Travel for extended periods to assembly plants in the United States, Canada, and/or Mexico.
You’ll have...
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting new product launches.
  • 2+ years of experience with automated testing systems.
  • 2+ years of experience with optical measurement and calibration systems.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in stressful situations within tight timing constraints.
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Automotive Manufacturing Engineering experience required.
  • Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collection, etc.).
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following Ford software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, AIM, CPARS.

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Interior, Exterior, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Water Test, or End-of-Line operations.
  • Error-proofing experience preferred.
  • Experience with tooling, manufacturing processes, and facilities.

This position is a salary grade 5-8 and ranges from $74,300-$166,200.
