Manufacturing Engineer – Electronics / PCBA
The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer to support the introduction, transfer, and ongoing production of complex electronic products.
This position works closely with manufacturing, quality, operations, customers, and suppliers to take products from introduction into stable production. The ideal candidate combines strong PCBA manufacturing knowledge with experience in NPI, DFM, process development, PFMEA, Lean manufacturing, and structured problem solving.
What You'll Do
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from initial manufacturing review through production launch.
- Conduct DFM/DFMA reviews and identify opportunities to improve manufacturability, quality, throughput, and cost.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing processes for PCBAs and electronic/mechanical assemblies.
- Create PFMEAs, control plans, process documentation, manufacturing instructions, and production routings.
- Support SMT, soldering, electronic assembly, and mechanical assembly processes.
- Develop and improve fixtures, tooling, assembly methods, and manufacturing workstations.
- Investigate production and quality issues using 5 Why, 8D, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action techniques.
- Analyze manufacturing and test results to identify opportunities for improved yield, efficiency, quality, and throughput.
- Apply Lean manufacturing and continuous‑improvement principles to improve production processes.
- Perform capacity, labor, and cycle‑time analysis to support production requirements.
- Partner with Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management, and other engineering functions to resolve technical issues.
- Communicate directly with customers regarding manufacturability concerns, design improvements, and production‑related technical issues.
- Work with external suppliers on tooling, fixtures, equipment, and manufacturing solutions.
- Evaluate new manufacturing technologies, processes, and equipment.
- Provide hands‑on engineering support on the production floor and train manufacturing personnel on new or revised processes.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting electronics and/or PCBA manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of SMT and soldering processes.
- Experience with NPI and Design for Manufacturability (DFM/DFMA).
- Experience developing PFMEAs, control plans, work instructions, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
- Experience with structured problem‑solving methodologies such as 5 Why and 8D.
- Experience working within an ISO‑based quality management system.
- Ability to work directly with customers and cross‑functional teams to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable being hands‑on in a production environment.
Why This Role
This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being close to the manufacturing floor rather than sitting behind a desk all day. You'll have exposure to the full product lifecycle, from NPI and DFM through production launch, process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
