The Manufacturing Engineer is a hands‑on production support role focused on helping the shop build equipment safely, efficiently, and consistently. This position works directly on the production floor with machinists, assemblers, technicians, engineers, and Quality Control to solve build issues, improve tooling and fixtures, reduce rework, and make processes easier to follow. The role turns engineering requirements into practical shop‑floor methods, work instructions, and repeatable build processes for compressor and equipment manufacturing operations.

  • Work closely with machinists, assemblers, technicians, engineers, and Quality Control to identify and resolve production issues as they occur on the shop floor.

  • Review product designs, drawings, and BOMs to make sure parts and assemblies can be built efficiently with available equipment, tooling, and shop capabilities.

  • Develop practical build methods, assembly sequences, fixtures, tooling, and shop layouts that improve safety, quality, flow, and productivity.

  • Troubleshoot production bottlenecks, fit‑up problems, equipment concerns, quality defects, and rework issues to keep jobs moving through production.

  • Create and maintain clear work instructions, standard procedures, checklists, and testing methods that employees can easily use at the work center.

  • Support new product introduction and product changes by turning engineering intent into buildable, repeatable shop‑floor processes.

Additional Job Duties:

  • Spend regular time on the production floor observing work, asking questions, validating processes, and helping remove obstacles for employees.

  • Train employees on new or revised processes, fixtures, tools, inspection points, and work instructions.

  • Partner with Quality Control to investigate nonconformances, warranty returns, and rework, then help implement practical corrective actions.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in machining, fabrication, assembly, equipment build, maintenance, or a technician role, with demonstrated growth into process improvement or engineering support responsibilities.

  • Comfortable using shop tools and measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and basic CMM tools.

  • Strong practical problem‑solving skills with the ability to work through production issues directly with shop employees.

  • Experience creating or updating work instructions, procedures, fixtures, tooling, BOMs, or mechanical designs.
