Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field required (experience may be considered in lieu degree).
  • CNC machine operation and programming experience.
  • 5-axis programming experience preferred.
  • Experience with composite part production processes and ERP/MRP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, store and maintain CNC program files (CATIA V5).
  • Create CNC programs for assigned jobs and develop manufacturing methods.
  • Prepare process sheets and specify material requirements.
  • Identify tooling requirements and order tooling as needed.
  • Write instruction sheets and tool lists for 3- and 5-axis CNC machines.
  • Train operators on CNC controls and tools.
  • Coordinate with production schedulers to support on-time delivery.
  • Support quality initiatives and drive continuous improvement.

Salary Range: $30.00 To $45.00 Hourly

JOBSUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineer (CNC Operations)is a key technical resource for composite part machining processes and is responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs, collaborating in CAD model development, and producing CAM programs while establishing manufacturing methods, process setup sheets, and material and tooling requisitions. The Manufacturing Engineer (CNC Operations) is also responsible for supporting process development to drive continuous improvement and contributing to accurate cost estimations.

REPORTSTO

The Manufacturing Engineer directly reports to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer and indirectly to the Director of Engineering

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONSREQUIREDFORPOSITION

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • CNC machine operation and programming experience
  • Experience producing and verifying parts in a production environment preferred
  • 5-axis programming experience preferred
  • Familiarity with composite part production processes and ERP/MRP systems preferred

  • Proficiency in CATIA V5: Part, Assembly, and Generative Shape Design, Drafting and Advanced Machining workbenches

  • Ability to work independently and in a team with no/minimal supervision

ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Prepare, store and maintain program files in database system (using CATIA V5)
  • Create CNC programs for assigned jobs
  • Develop manufacturing methods
  • Prepare process sheets and specify material requirements
  • Identify tooling requirements and order tooling as needed
  • Write instruction sheets and tool lists to guide set-up and operation of three- and five-axis CNC machines
  • Design and develop CNC work holding tools
  • Help train operators on the use of CNC machine controls and tools
  • Assist operators with setting up and running jobs; check status on the shop floor to ensure parts are acceptable
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic CNC machine errors and breakdowns
  • Help coordinate with external vendors for CNC machine maintenance and repair as needed
  • Estimate machine cycle times for quoting purposes
  • Coordinate with production schedulers to create plans that support on-time delivery
  • Support and participate in quality initiatives (e.g., industry audits, quality objectives)
  • Reduce or eliminate waste through workplace organization, simplifying set-ups and standardizing programs
  • Maintain and develop current knowledge and skills; stay informed of industry technologies and latest advancements
  • Other duties as assigned
