  • Independently plan and develop machining processes for assigned products, including operation sequence, tooling, workholding, inspection considerations, outside processing requirements, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Develop and improve CNC machining processes using sound machining practices, including tooling selection, feeds and speeds, setup strategy, process parameters, and workholding methods.
  • Lead troubleshooting of machining problems involving tool life, chatter, dimensional variation, surface finish, distortion, workholding, cycle time, and machine capability.
  • Independently design or coordinate development of tooling, fixtures, soft jaws, workholding, manufacturing aids, and process improvements required to support production.
  • Lead manufacturability reviews for assigned components and recommend product or process changes that improve quality, cost, schedule, producibility, and process capability.
  • Establish or validate setup and run-time estimates used for planning, quoting, capacity, and cost analysis.
  • Lead root-cause and corrective-action activities for recurring machining issues, nonconformances, scrap, rework, and process failures.
  • Lead or coordinate assigned cost-reduction, cycle-time reduction, setup-reduction, tooling, and productivity improvement projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to production personnel and less-experienced manufacturing engineers.
  • Read, review, markup, and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, blueprints, GD&T requirements, and 3D model data applicable to machined components.
