Job summary

Heartland Food Products Group in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an Associate Engineer to support design, fabrication, and installation of equipment for our production facilities. You will work closely with the RAM Team Engineer, from drawing and design to fabrication to installation, bringing projects to life.

The role requires CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion, Inventor), strong mechanical aptitude, ability to read schematics, and hands-on experience with machining.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience inside manufacturing facility.
• Experience with drawing/design programs: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion, Inventor, etc.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and engineering mindset.
• Ability to read and decipher schematics, blueprints, mechanical drawings and P&ID drawings.
• Use of mechanical and digital measuring instruments with precision.
• Knowledge of physics, mechanics, geometry and basic mathematics; machining is a plus.
• Familiarity with pumps, valves, motors, gears, pneumatics, hydraulics.
• Engineering degree 2- or 4-year is a plus.
• Must work at height and in challenging environments (cold, hot, dusty, confined spaces).
• Excellent English communication (written and spoken).
• Team player with strong communication skills.
• Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities.
• High urgency and customer support mindset.
• Good job performance and attendance records.
• Must have or be able to obtain a US passport.
• Must be able to travel.

Responsibilities

• Draw and design using CAD.
• Assist RAM Engineer and Project Managers with leading projects.
• Run manual and CNC machines (mill, plasma, laser, lathe, lifts).
• Set up machines and inspect components with tight tolerances and quality.
• Lead fabrication projects to support repairs and new work.
• Lead installation of industrial equipment; rigging experience is a plus.
• Select tools, machines and materials for work preparation.
• Aid in troubleshooting, diagnostics and repair of equipment.
• Maintain high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
• Keep a safe, organized work area and maintain tools.
• All other duties and projects assigned.
