Job summary

Robinson, Inc. in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to plan and design manufacturing systems, optimize material flow, automation, fixturing, and layout planning to support growth.

Collaborate with design, operations, and project management to improve production quality, reduce costs, and implement new techniques; role emphasizes lean initiatives, DFx, and a hands-on approach to manufacturing excellence in a dynamic plant.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, PDM, and SolidWorks.
  • Experience with fabrication nesting processes, methods, and programming.
  • Sheet metal fabricating, powder paint finishing, and assembly experience.
  • Strong understanding of material flow methods (push/pull systems).
  • Experience with quoting machine cycle time and costs preferred.
  • Self-starter, able to work without supervision and commitment to produce highly accurate product in all areas.
  • Lean or six sigma training, experience or certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Determines processes, fixtures, and tools needed to produce quality parts to customer specifications.
  • Demonstrates a passion for continual improvement by identifying needs, analyzing cutting-edge technology to incorporate into processes, oversee related activities and reporting on results.
  • Analyzes layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods and work force utilization.
  • Assist in setting up manufacturing routings and material flow methods.
  • Review design renderings/prints and provide design for manufacturability feedback.
  • Work with internal personnel to resolve production issues, both cost and quality related.
  • Support lean initiatives for process improvement on the shop floor.
  • Help develop standard work for set-up and visual management work instructions.
  • Assist Project Managers with new product launches to include identifying risk issues, creating effective production processes, monitoring launches running on the floor, providing DFM feedback, and reviewing new product design introductions for cost down process opportunities.
  • Strives to understand a high level of all functional areas of manufacturing processes and actively brings forth ideas for process improvement according to company objectives.
  • Interact with teams of design engineers, operations labor, project managers, and the routing/estimating departments to secure deadlines.
  • Identify current state work center capacity bottlenecks within manufacturing and develop plans to realize future state demand.
  • Identify and specify capital investments
  • Assist in processing Engineering Change Notices to the manufacturing floor
  • All other duties as assigned.

The Manufacturing Engineer plans and designs manufacturing systems involving material flow, automation, fixturing, work content balancing, support future growth through capacity enhancements, and new facility layout planning/executing. Works collaboratively with all functional areas to increase production, improve quality and lead new techniques and processes within a manufacturing environment.

ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with setting up item masters within ERP preferred
