Job summary

Legrand is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Electrical Infrastructure Division in West Hartford, CT. You will develop and optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals while collaborating with cross-functional teams to run production lines efficiently.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and at least 1 year of related experience, with CAD (2D/3D) and ERP proficiency preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 1 year in manufacturing engineering or related role.
• CAD (2D/3D) experience preferred; automation and NPI experience valued.
• Experience with automation, advanced manufacturing technologies, and NPI processes preferred.

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Electrical Infrastructure Division in West Hartford, CT. In this role, you will develop, implement, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes required to meet the needs of the operation for both existing and new products. You will assure processes support organizational goals for safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure production lines run efficiently and effectively to satisfy our customers.

Responsibilities

What Will You Do?

• Develop, optimize, and implement manufacturing methods and processes (e.g., line balancing, assembly flows, process flows).
• Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
• Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; and confirming manufacturing processes.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes by researching, designing, modifying, and testing methods and equipment; soliciting observations from operators; and conferring with equipment vendors.
• Review new product designs to identify design for manufacturability (DFM) issues and opportunities; support new product introduction initiatives.
• Develop tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes and assembly operations.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Prepare process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Create and maintain accurate manufacturing documentation, including process flows, ECOs, and work instructions.
• Provide technical assistance and training to maintenance, operations, and assembly personnel.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
• Maintain product and company reputation by complying with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing engineering, drafting, or related engineering capacity.
• Experience with CAD software (2D/3D) preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting rolling mills preferred.
• Experience with automation, advanced manufacturing technologies, and new product introduction processes preferred.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design.
• Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, quality assurance techniques, and lean manufacturing concepts.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Effective project management and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with ERP systems preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and train others on processes and procedures.
