Job summary

IAC Group in Warren, MI is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to plan, design, and drive continuous improvement of the manufacturing process in the plant. You will maximize efficiency by analyzing layout, workflow, and tooling, and determine parts and tools needed to meet product specs.

You will lead Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen and other improvement initiatives, support new launches, collaborate in Gemba walks, and create SOPs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of manufacturing engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive or industrial manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kanban, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and CAD software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes, equipment, and workflows.
  • Analyze production methods and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and other operational excellence tools.
  • Design and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Support new product launches, equipment installations, and process validations.
  • Collaborate with and participate in Gemba walks, audits, and continuous improvement events with cross‑functional teams to resolve manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing specifications.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for production issues.
  • Monitor production data and KPIs to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate manufacturing equipment and tooling requirements and recommend capital investments as needed.
  • Support cost reduction efforts through productivity improvements, waste reduction, and process optimization.

General Description
  • Plans, designs, and drive continuous improvement of the manufacturing process in the industrial plant.
  • Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
  • Determines parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
  • Performs a major role in troubleshooting process issues, root causing product defects, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and implement changes suggested by Launch or Product Engineers. They focus more on technology (PLCs, Robots, Welding, etc.) and are responsible in general of secondary equipment (welding, clipping, wrapping, etc.).
