Job summary

ARCH Medical Solutions in Whitehall, PA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive operational excellence through offline programming, process design, and CNC support. You will collaborate with engineering, quality, production, and sales to deliver efficient, high-quality results in a temperature-controlled, clean facility.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of CNC manufacturing experience, knowledge of CAM software (Mastercam), and a proven track record in Lean and Six Sigma.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering preferred; if not, an associate or relevant experience may suffice.
• 3+ years of CNC machining/manufacturing experience.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar productivity methods.
• Experience with project management and change management.
• Working knowledge of CNC programming and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam).
• Proficiency in continuous improvement tools and techniques (Lean, Six Sigma, process mapping).
• Ability to analyze complex workflows and recommend data-driven improvements.
• Demonstrated leadership, clear communication, and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes specifications to determine optimal production methods with existing processes.
• Creates, implements, and troubleshoots CNC programs for new parts start-ups using MasterCAM or similar CAM software.
• Assesses tooling/equipment feasibility considering costs and time.
• Provides technical information on manufacturing techniques, materials, and process capabilities.
• Collaborates with customers to resolve design/process issues and supports machinists with drawings/models and documentation.
• Estimates production times, staffing, and costs to inform management decisions.
• Develops and improves manufacturing methods to increase production, reduce costs, and improve safety and quality.
• Troubleshoots process problems to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
• Develops and updates process procedures; interacts with inspectors; understands SPC and process capability.
• Keeps abreast of new products/technologies and assists in developing new products or enhancements.
• Collaborates with teams to promote proactive safety initiatives and continuous improvement in workplace safety.
• Supports safety initiatives by identifying risks and promoting a safety culture.

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in driving operational excellence through off-line programming, quoting assistance, process design & improvement, safety leadership, and CNC manufacturing support. This position partners across engineering, quality, production, and sales to deliver efficient, high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine the best method which the product can be produced by existing manufacturing processes and methods.
• Creates, implements, and troubleshoots CNC programs for new parts start-ups using MasterCAM or similar CAD/CAM program.
• Determines feasibility of designing new tooling or equipment considering costs, time limitations and other technical and economic factors.
• Provides technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations.
• Confers with customers to clarify or resolve problems in developing designs or processes. Proficient working with customer drawings & models, creating and modifying models, and creating documentation to support machinists.
• Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Confers with management regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
• Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods for maintaining or increasing production levels while improving production costs, yields, quality, and safety.
• Troubleshoots process problems and identifies solutions which reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs.
• Develops and updates process procedures to ensure that documentation is accurate and understandable. Has good working knowledge of metrology to facilitate interaction with inspectors. Has understanding of SPC and Process Capability.
• Keeps abreast of latest products, services, and technologies, and assists in developing new products and enhancement of existing ones.
• Collaborate with teams to develop and promote proactive safety initiatives, training, and continuous improvement in workplace safety practices.
• Support safety initiatives by identifying risks, recommending corrective actions, and promoting a culture of safety across manufacturing operations.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering preferred but will consider an Associates degree OR relevant combination of education and relevant work experience.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in CNC machining / manufacturing
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma or other productivity improvement methods.
• Experience with project management and change management.
• Working knowledge of CNC programming and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam).
• Proficiency in continuous improvement tools and techniques (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, process mapping).
• Ability to analyze complex workflows and recommend data-driven improvements.
