Job summary

ARCH Global Holdings LLC in Minneapolis, MN seeks a skilled Machinist/ CAM Programmer to design milling processes and develop CNC programs for new products per customer orders. You will create operation prints, coordinate with quality, and support pre-production to ensure kit readiness.

The role emphasizes Kaizen leadership, tooling and workholding improvements, and mentoring peers to boost manufacturing excellence. ITAR compliance is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of machining experience.
  • Minimum 3 years CAM programming experience.
  • Minimum 2 years in an engineering-related function.
  • ITAR requires U.S. person status.

Position Summary

Responsible for designing an optimal process for fabrication of milled parts per customer purchase order requirements. The processes include both primary and secondary operations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for new product development, including but not limited to:
  • Creation of CNC programs for new products
  • Creation of manufacturing process for new product
  • Creation of operation prints as required
  • Coordinate with quality on inspection methods
  • Participate in pre-production process to ensure all items are kitted and available at setup time
  • Create and maintain setup sheets
  • Create jobs and process documentation
  • Partner with Management and Production on Floor Support
  • Assist with quoting part rates
  • Lead continuous improvement including, but not limited to:
  • Identify, lead, and Coordinate “Kaizen” events
  • Identify and lead “quick hit” improvements
  • Research, procure, and develop new technology including, but not limited to:
  • Tooling
  • Work holding
  • Equipment
  • Participate in quality activities including, but not limited to:
  • Nonconforming Material Review (NCMR)
  • Root cause analysis
  • Material review board
  • Mentor other engineers and machinists to improve their manufacturing and engineering skill sets
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, or GED equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in machining
  • A minimum of 3 years’ CAM programming experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an engineering related function.
  • Due to contractual requirements, this position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
  • Contract manufacturing experience
  • CAM programming in GIBBS
  • Strong Analytical skills and the ability to express concepts effectively, both written and verbally
  • Knowledge of tooling, speeds and feeds and work methods is critical
  • Ability to be open minded and work well with others and in a team environment
  • Ability to set up and operate machine tools
  • Ability to program machine tools
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and utilize GD&T proficiently
  • Ability to work independently with minimal training or supervision
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job:

  • Continuous mental and visual attention is needed.
  • The ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, kneel, sit, reach or otherwise move about frequently
  • Occasional repetitive motion and grasping
  • The ability to talk and hear is frequently required.
  • Performs typing for operation of a computer
  • Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards where temperature may vary and personal protective equipment is required.
