Job summary

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Solid knowledge of battery manufacturing processes, preferably lead‑acid batteries.
  • Strong project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Provide process‑related input to cross‑functional teams and lead solutions to process‑related issues.
  • Assist in developing new capital projects and expenditures based on process or capacity studies.
  • Supervise planning and implementation of capital projects.
  • Facilitate implementation of new plant processes, especially equipment development and fabrication for automation or replacement.
  • Determine costs, vendor selection, and accurate implementation; retain responsibility for all project expenditures.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Maintain compliance with local and federal regulations and ISO‑9001 requirements.

Manufacturing Engineer

Trojan Battery Company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Attica team. The role focuses on design, development, improvement, and exploration of competitive manufacturing technologies to produce high‑quality products in a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Provide process‑related input to cross‑functional teams and lead solutions to process‑related issues.
  • Assist in developing new capital projects and expenditures based on process or capacity studies.
  • Supervise planning and implementation of capital projects.
  • Facilitate implementation of new plant processes, especially equipment development and fabrication for automation or replacement.
  • Determine how key functions in a process are identified, defined, and controlled.
  • Troubleshoot quality and manufacturing efficiency issues; improve capabilities through statistical screening of variables.
  • Support cross‑functional teams with process and operations input.
  • Apply Lean manufacturing principles to remove waste and improve ergonomics across system, lines, and cells.
  • Use tools such as Tack Times, SMED, Poke Yoke, Kan‑Bans, Kaizen, 6S, A3, TPM to improve production machines and maintenance strategies.
  • Determine costs, vendor selection, and accurate implementation; retain responsibility for all project expenditures.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Maintain compliance with local and federal regulations and ISO‑9001 requirements.
  • Set up a safe, ergonomically correct work environment.
  • Prepare engineering documents: Process Flow Diagram, pFMEA, Standard Operation Sheets, Job Element Sheets, time studies, cost estimates, line and cell balancing, capital expense requests, project schedules, design specifications, equipment and construction specifications.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 4‑year degree required; Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Electro‑Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of battery manufacturing processes, preferably lead‑acid batteries.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and statistical software.
  • Proficient technical writing skills.
  • Self‑starter capable of prioritizing and executing work with minimal supervision.
  • Some work travel may be required.
