Hanwha Power is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to own the production of industrial gas turbine cases, ensuring metallurgical, dimensional, and quality standards while leading the IPT to deliver products on time and within cost targets.

The role also develops and maintains manufacturing knowledge, creates routers and assembly instructions, manages documentation changes, and collaborates with suppliers and internal teams, including travel to suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of GT industry or related manufacturing/repair experience.
  • Must complete EHS regulatory training for work area.

Responsibilities

  • Establish manufacturing acceptance criteria for IG turbine cases.
  • Coordinate with sand casting and machining suppliers; travel internationally.
  • Ensure timely processing of quality documentation with QA team.
  • Contribute input for manufacturability of new design components.
  • Establish and share manufacturing best practices.
  • Disposition non-conforming product and eliminate root causes.
  • Maintain documentation changes across drawings, BOMs, work instructions.
  • Improve quality, cost, and lead-time; communicate project needs.
  • Promote safe working environment through EHS initiatives.

Job description

Ownership of manufacturing for industrial gas turbine cases produced by sand casting and machining.Ensure that turbine cases meet metallurgical, dimensional, and quality standards. The manufacturing engineer leads the integrated product team (IPT) to develop and deliver the products with a focus on quality, cost and on-time delivery. This role develops and builds the knowledge base and best practices for manufacturing across the product line. The manufacturing engineer also create the routers, work instructions, assembly instructions and maintenance documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Establish technical acceptance criteria for the manufacture of industrial gas turbine cases.
  • Coordinate with outside sand casting and machining suppliers to ensure casing products meet durability, performance, fit and function requirements with stable manufacturing processes. This requires international travel to these suppliers.
  • Facilitate and actively work to ensure all quality documentation is processed in a timely manner. Work with product quality team to ensure all quality procedures are being followed by suppliers.
  • Provide input into new design components for manufacturability.
  • Establish manufacturing best practices for the product line.
  • Disposition non-conforming product and work to eliminate the root cause of the issue.
  • Generate and manage the changes to drawings, specifications, bill of materials, work instructions, routers and other documentation during the life of the products.
  • Work to continuously improve quality, cost, and lead-time.
  • Communicate both internally and externally to keep management, suppliers, customers, and team members informed of project needs/activities.
  • Promote a safe working environment through existing EHS initiatives and the proposal of new EHS initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Training
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in the Gas Turbine (GT) industry or related manufacturing/repair environment.
  • Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area.
Skills/Experience
  • Understanding of Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) components and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of technical drawings, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD & T) and industrial specifications.
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of large steel or ductile iron casting processes
  • SAP, Creo and Teamcenter experience
  • Ability to work in a professional team environment.
  • International travel is required.
