Job summary

Abbott in Temecula, California is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support and develop extrusion manufacturing processes for medical products. The role emphasizes process optimization, equipment validation, and cross-functional collaboration to meet daily production schedules and regulatory requirements.

Ideal candidates will have 3–5 years of process/manufacturing engineering experience, hands-on extrusion support, and familiarity with quality tools (Gage R&R, Cp, Cpk, SPC).

• Support medical extrusion manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Line support for extrusion lines and customer support.
• Perform essential duties and responsibilities.
• Support extrusion lines and extruder equipment and processes.
• Evaluate production equipment; support and validate processes.
• Interface with customers and vendors for incoming components.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Use Gage R&R, Cp, Cpk, and SPC to improve processes.
• Apply Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and Visual Workplace to improve quality and throughput.
• Generate and modify process documentation; work with cross-functional teams.
• Develop and implement process improvements; support QMS/EMS and regulatory requirements.
• Comply with FDA regulations and company policies.
• Maintain positive communications with all levels of staff, customers, and vendors.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Ergonomic compliance for computer-based work.
• Dexterous use of hands for typing and operating equipment.

Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Temecula, California

Duration: 12 Months

100% Onsite

Summary

• 3 -5 years of experience as a Process or manufacturing engineer.
• This position will support manufacturing processes for medical extrusion.
• This position will support the current manufacturing processes and develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures in order to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality.

Job Duties

• Line support and international and internal customer support.
• Significant/essential duties, tasks or responsibilities which employees in this position are required to perform.
• Support the extrusion manufacturing lines by providing support to the extruder equipment and processes.
• Evaluation of production equipment Production support and process validation Interface with customers and vendors for incoming components Troubleshoot manufacturing process and equipment Utilize tools like Gage R&R, Cp, Cpk, and SPC to improve processes Understand manufacturing concepts like Value Stream mapping, 5S and Visual Workplace to improve quality, labor efficiency, and throughput.
• Protocol and report writing Generate and modify manufacturing process documentation Work with cross functional teams as required Develop and implement process improvements Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements. Complies with U.S.
• Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
• Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
• Activities require a significant amount of sitting in front of a computer monitor, some standing and walking.
• Significant use of hands and arms, plus finger dexterity to reach, point, write, type, operate a computer and other office equipment.
