Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering.
  • 4 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Proficient with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and CAM programming.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Design and implement production systems and workflows, including equipment selection.
  • Implement quality control measures to meet standards.
  • Identify and resolve quality issues with corrective and preventive actions.
  • Evaluate materials, components, and manufacturing methods for cost-effectiveness.
  • Identify automation opportunities and lead process improvement projects.
  • Develop project plans, milestones, and allocate resources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues and implement changes.
  • Ensure safety compliance and create a safe working environment.
  • Identify Lean opportunities and drive continuous improvement.

Location: Tea, SD (right off I-29)
Work Hours: 7:00am to 4:30pm Monday - Friday

Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes and systems to ensure the efficient and cost-effective production of products. They work closely with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, troubleshoot production issues, and enhance overall productivity.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce production costs, and ensure product quality.
  2. Design and implement production systems and workflows, including the selection of equipment and tools.
  3. Implement quality control measures to ensure products meet or exceed industry and company standards.
  4. Identity and resolve quality issues by implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  5. Evaluate and recommend cost-effective materials, components, and manufacturing methods.
  6. Identify opportunities for automation and implement technology solutions to streamline manufacturing processes.
  7. Lead or participate in projects related to process improvement, capacity expansion, and new product introductions.
  8. Develop project plans, set milestones, and manage resources effectively.
  9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, design and quality assurance, to resolve production issues and implement process changes.
  10. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and work on creating a safe working environment for employees.
  11. Identify areas for improvement that drive Lean manufacturing practices and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

  • 4 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related field.
    • Proficient in CAD Software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
    • Experience with CAM programming for CNC Machines.
    • Knowledge and experience within a machine shop, sheet metal shop and mechanical assembly.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of the creation and implimentation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) processes.

  • Strong attention to detail with ability to focus on a given task.
  • Enthusiastic about learning new skills and technology.
  • Effective time-management tactical approach to work prioritization.
  • Commitment to continued development through the DeGeest Strong Standard Program.
  • Read, speak, and write the English language.
  • Good communication skills.

Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is eligible for a bonus.
