Job summary

Formlabs in Somerville, MA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive readiness for new product introductions, working with R&D to transition from prototype to mass production. You will lead DFM/DFA efforts and establish production readiness with global teams, ensuring specs are met through robust processes.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in design/manufacturing engineering for NPI, experience with contract manufacturers, and strong communication skills to present at all business levels.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering; mechanical, manufacturing mechatronics, systems, or related field.
  • Willingness to travel internationally & domestically ~10–20%.
  • 1–3 years in Design and Manufacturing Engineering for complex NPI product industrialization.
  • 1–3 years with global contract manufacturers bringing electromechanical systems from prototype to mass production.
  • Independent, self-starter with strategic thinking and tactical execution, detail-oriented.
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills; presenting at all business levels.

Responsibilities

  • Drive manufacturing technical readiness as a critical member of NPI teams; collaborating with R&D to drive results from early prototype through project completion.
  • Drive DFM and DFA in support of product, system, and process design.
  • Establish industrialization and production readiness with global Formlabs teams, contract manufacturers, and suppliers.
  • Ensure critical product specifications are addressed through processes and control points.
  • Collaborate cross functionally on complex engineering and operational challenges.
  • Drive process control and issue prevention; implement tools, equipment and process methods to ensure reliability and quality.
  • Drive optimization and continuous improvement using factory data to analyze process capabilities at suppliers and contract manufacturers.
