Job summary

Great Dane is seeking a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer to lead capital projects and develop manufacturing processes. You will design automation solutions, conduct plant visits, and coordinate with operations to drive efficiency and quality across our manufacturing sites.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of experience and a Bachelor’s in industrial or mechanical engineering, with strong skills in MS Office, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks. Travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in industrial or mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems; asset justification; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Travel: Up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Design and build automation solutions.
• Conduct plant visits to assist with project planning and process improvement.
• Provide manufacturing engineering information to customers.
• Responsible for capital expenditure program (budgeting, project planning and implementation).
• Develop cost reduction, quality and safety enhancement projects/opportunities.
• Perform payback analysis, obtain quotes and oversee project installation.
• Improve manufacturing efficiency through analysis and workflow planning.
• Develop manufacturing processes.
• Confer with equipment vendors on product design and capabilities.
• Develop corporate engineering strategies.
• Research new equipment and processes for future implementation.
• Specify necessary tooling.
• Develop solutions to manufacturing and quality problems.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Position: Directly responsible for the development and implementation of capital projects. These positions also work closely with Plant and Branch Operations in order to anticipate and resolve issues. Develops manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

Your skills and abilities (required qualifications)

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering or related field.
• Experience: 5-10 years of experience preferred.
• Skills: Basic knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
  • Asset justification
  • Industrial engineering skills such as work measurement, labor reporting, and plant layout
  • Understanding of building and maintenance contracts including liability issues
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing processes
  • Computer skills including MS Office, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • Analytical analysis andproblem solvingskills
  • Strong communicationand organizational skills
  • Understand of compliance regulations and codes
• Travel: Up to 50%
