Job summary

RGBSI is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to support the delivery of aircraft technology on a 12-month contract with potential extension. The role focuses on optimizing assembly operations, tooling layouts and sequence of operations to meet productivity and compliance targets.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with at least 4 years of prior manufacturing experience.
• Experience interpreting specifications and engineering drawings/models.
• Experience adapting machine and equipment designs to meet factory and production requirements.
• Proven track record with continuous improvement events.

Responsibilities

• Onsite at the customer facility in Savannah, GA.
• Ensure manufacturing processes follow EH&S and Quality requirements.
• Develop processes applicable to SPC for compliant, efficient production.
• Propose operation sequences and procedures for fabrication of tools/equipment.
• Owns tooling and machine layout for the manufacturing process.
• Improve processes/products by collaborating with design engineers.
• Apply robotics, automation, and countermeasures for process upgrades.
• Identify opportunities on drawings/specs to influence design changes and line balancing.
• Participate in tool design reviews to reduce build times and costs.
• Use data analytics / SPC to drive FPY and OEE improvements.
• Lead problem solving initiatives and investigations (OEE, FPY, escapes).
• Participate in PFMEA and Control Plans.
• Create and maintain process documents (routings, BOM, visual aids, standard work).
• Engage in digital manufacturing solutions with SME support.

Job Description:

• Looking for Manufacturing Engineer II to support the delivery of aircraft technology.
• In this role, you will optimize the performance of a wide range of tasks to facilitate assembly operations, production and business unit objectives.
• This will include designing and arranging machines, tooling, and sequence of operations and making sure that mandatory modifications are incorporated to ensure configuration compliance and to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• You will work onsite at the customer facility in Savannah Georgia.
• Ensure the sequence of the manufacturing process and product builds are followed and comply with EH&S and Quality requirements.
• Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control to ensure compliance and effective production.
• Propose the sequence of operations and installations and specific procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other processes, which may include disassembly/assembly and repairs, to ensure efficiency and optimize performance.
• Owns the design and arrangement of tooling and machines of the manufacturing process (layout)
• Improve manufacturing processes/ products to achieve productivity by working with design engineers.
• Implement process upgrades by applying various engineering applications such as robotics, automation and shop floor corrective action/countermeasures
• Identify opportunities on drawings and specs to influence changes to engineering designs and line balancing,
• Participate in tool design reviews to ensure tools are feasible and reduce build times and program costs during fabrication.
• Uses data analytics / SPC for productivity, First Pass Yield and OEE targets and improvement.
• Drive problem solving initiatives & challenge status QUO (C/A Investigations, OEE, FPY, Customer escapes)
• Participates and contributes on PFMEA and Control Plans
• Owns creation and maintains manufacturing process documents (routings, BOM, Visual aids, Std work, etc).
• Participate on digital manufacturing solutions with support from Digital subject matter experts

Requirements:

• Prior experience interpretating specifications and engineering drawings/models
• Prior experience adapting machine and equipment designs to meet specific factory and production requirements.
• Experience with continuous improvement events

Preferred:

• Experience in robotics and automation.
• Experience in Six Sigma/Red X.
• Understanding of Project Management methods.

Education:

• A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
