Job summary

Micro Matic seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to own processes, equipment, and methods, developing and improving processes with emphasis on standardization and optimization. You will design production layouts, create work instructions, fixtures, tooling, and value stream maps, and collaborate with third-party integrators on large projects.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering.
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks; design, model and dimension manufacturable components.
  • Lean Manufacturing background with ability to lead continuous improvement.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications; suggest changes.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving; data synthesis and statistics.
  • Excellent organization and project management; manage plans, progress, budget, and team.
  • Change Management skills; implement plans and monitor transitions.
  • Read material data sheets, safety standards, and manuals.
  • Team player; build morale and meet goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; interface with vendors, customers, employees.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Improve fixtures/systems and implement enhancements.
  • Create manufacturing work instructions for new or existing assemblies.
  • Collaborate with Quality to define controls and data collection.
  • Manage introduction of chemicals and SDS database; ensure compliance.
  • Conduct time studies for continuous improvement.
  • Lead improvement projects on time and within budget.
  • Standardize production processes per industry best practices.
  • Estimate production times, staffing and related costs for management decisions.
  • Prepare capital expenditure requests and justifications.
  • Plan workforce utilization, space, and workflow; design equipment layouts.
  • Ensure manufacturability of new designs; evaluate in phase gate.
  • Interface with suppliers to determine equipment specifications.
  • Coordinate with management, engineering, and staff on capabilities.
  • Other duties as needed.

Job Summary

Ownership of manufacturing processes, equipment, and methods. Develop and improve manufacturing processes with focus on standardization and optimization. Creates production line design and layouts, work instructions/VOS, fixture and tooling designs and value stream maps. Engage with 3rd party integrators on large projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, analyse, and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate equipment, define, and implement PM programs.
  • Evaluate assembly and testing fixtures/systems and execute improvements when required.
  • Manages process documentation, including the development of manufacturing work instructions for existing or new assemblies, etc.
  • Works with Quality to define and implement controls and Internal Quality data collection.
  • Manage the introduction of chemicals and compounds along with the SDS database, ensure compliance with local and agency regulations.
  • Complete time studies for continuous improvement.
  • Manage improvement projects ensuring their on-time, and in-budget completion.
  • Leads the standardization of production processes per best industry practices.
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Identify and prepare capital expenditure requests and justifications.
  • Analyse and plan work force utilization, space requirements and workflow. Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Work with the design team to ensure new designs are properly evaluated for manufacturability.
  • Validate manufacturability of new projects in the phase gate process.
  • Interface with suppliers to determine equipment specifications, etc.
  • Interface with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Proficient with the use of SolidWorks, able to design, model, and dimension manufacturable components and assemblies.
  • Lean Manufacturing background with the ability to lead, teach and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude with knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly techniques and tools.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications and suggest changes to Engineering as needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect/research/synthesize data, apply advanced math/statistics, create charts/graphs, troubleshoot issues, draw conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills with the ability to 1) develop and coordinate project plans; 2) communicates changes and progress; 3) complete projects on time and budget; and 4) manage project team activities.
  • Change Management skills– Able to develop workable implementation plans, monitor transitions and evaluate results.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as material data sheets, safety standards, operating manuals and maintenance instructions, etc.
  • Good team player with the ability to build morale and group commitments to meet goals/objectives and support everyone’s efforts to succeed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop reports, present to groups and interface effectively with vendors, customers and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
