Job summary

Alamo Group Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to analyze and improve manufacturing processes, design tooling, and lead cross-functional teams. You will troubleshoot day-to-day performance issues, develop efficient methods, and work with suppliers to meet quality standards.

The role requires lean manufacturing experience, strong 3D modeling skills, and ability to read engineering drawings. Collaboration across shop floor and office is essential.

Qualifications

  • Lean manufacturing experience required or preferred.
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience with ERP systems and 3D modeling tools.
  • Strong problem solving and cross functional collaboration.
  • Experience with GD&T and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical analysis of manufacturing processes to support decisions.
  • Design, acquire, fabricate and repair tooling and machines.
  • Troubleshoot process performance issues and implement improvements.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing methods and quality standards.
  • Validate cycle times with time studies and quote labor as needed.
  • Coach team in absence of leader and respond to customer issues.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on specifications and conformance.

Job description

Essential Functions Of The Job
  • Perform technical analysis of manufacturing processes to support management decisions.
  • Design / direct the acquisition, design, fabrication and repair of all necessary tooling and machines.
  • Troubleshoots day‑to‑day process performance issues, develops solutions, and monitors improvements.
  • Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of manufacturing best practices, product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, test methods, and quality control standards.
  • Validate process cycle times by conducting time studies;
  • Provide day‑to‑day coaching duties in absence of team leader; and
  • Respond to customer issues and lead process improvements.
  • Determine manufacturing time and cost of new assemblies; provide Production Managers with a labor quote
  • Works with suppliers to determine product specifications and conformance to quality standards, and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSA’s)
  • Prior experience working in a lean manufacturing environment;
  • Metal Forming/Welding/Fabrications experience in a manufacturing environment; - preferred.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers;
  • Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • Effectively establish understand and communicate with individuals at multiple levels of the organization including shop floor and office;
  • Experience in conducting time studies;
  • Experience identifying and developing solutions to Safety, Quality and Velocity issues in a shop floor environment; and thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts.
  • Formal Problem Solving training/skills.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering.
Experience
  • Lean experience
  • Project management including facilitating cross-functional teams
  • 3 – 5 years of manufacturing engineering related experience.
  • ERP experience, JDE preferred
  • Experience working with 3D Modeling (Solid Edge, SolidWorks etc).
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing;
  • Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience with ERP - preferred
