Job summary

Tenneco is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the design and implementation of manufacturing processes, improve processes, and assist maintenance in troubleshooting production equipment. The role emphasizes safety, standard work, process optimization, and collaboration across engineering and operations to meet performance targets.

This on-site Ohio role offers the chance to influence line efficiency, quality, and uptime in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Engineering, Maintenance, or Operations roles in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with PLCs, robotics and welding processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all corporate and plant level Safety Requirements.
  • Responsible for optimization of manufacturing processes.
  • Development of standard work instructions.
  • Development of standard maintenance operation procedures for repairing and preventative operations including periodic maintenance and daily checks.
  • Identify gaps between current process and standardized work and provide corrective actions to resolve.
  • Serve as a resource for troubleshooting and preventative work on new and existing equipment.
  • Ensures plans are in place to meet all performance indicator targets/goals.
  • Able to work collaboratively with multiple departments to continuously improve equipment reliability and uptime in the facility.
  • Actively participate to provide improvements in Safety, Quality, Cost, and Productivity.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and issue resolution options and action plans.
  • Manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously without impacting timelines.
  • Ensure efficient handover of new installations to Operations team through proper documentation, training and follow up.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal, written and presentation) at all levels of the organization.
  • Take ownership for actions, behaviors, and contributions while inspiring and motivating self and others.
  • Perform job duties in line with company policies, procedures and work instructions pertaining to IATF16949, ISO 14001 and Safety requirements.

About The Role

The Manufacturing Engineer assists Engineering and Operations during the design and implementation of manufacturing processes, conducts studies to improve processes and assists maintenance in the troubleshooting of production equipment.

Job Requirements
  • BS in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Engineering, Maintenance, or Operations roles in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience in PLC’s, Robotics and Welding processes is preferred
  • MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and maintenance requirements to meet personnel safety, and quality standards.
  • Understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T, including methods of measurement and layout
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills required
