About the Company

Oshkosh Vocational is building a new facility in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to support operations at our brand‑new plant.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks under supervision following Oshkosh engineering standards.
  • Support senior engineers in preparing facility processes, designs, computation methods, and reports.
  • Manage projects or parts of projects of limited complexity; may oversee multiple projects.
  • Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, or production builds.
  • Analyze space requirements, workflow, and design layout for equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Process engineering information through change notices, proposals, and continuous improvement requests.
  • Participate in cost studies, project time estimation, and technical proposals.
  • Assess legislative and regulatory impacts on projects.
  • Recommend fixture and tooling designs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering, or related field.
  • One to two years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of equipment manufacturing or automobile industry.
  • Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience in aluminum MIG/TIG welding.
  • Background in weld fixture design or improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of weld sequencing and cool time in multi‑weld processes.
  • Understanding of ERP/MES/PLM systems.
  • Fluent in 2D/3D CAD (Creo and Catia preferred).
  • Experience with industrial controls and weld robot programming.
  • Strong dedication to process improvement as subject‑matter expert.
  • Knowledge of EAR‑99 and ITAR classifications.

  • Decision‑making on project sequencing, methods, and alternatives.
  • Structured problem‑solving following standard practices.
Working Conditions
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, hearing, talking, typing, fine dexterity, and occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
  • Non‑physical demands include analysis, reasoning, communication, and sustained mental activity.
  • Environmental demands include task changes, dust, temperature extremes, loud noises, and occasional exposure to chemicals.
  • Work schedule: routine shift hours with infrequent overtime, weekends, or shift rotation.
Pay Range

$73,200.00 – $117,800.00
