Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Oshkosh Vocational, Murfreesboro, Tennessee
This role will be based onsite at our brand‑new facility in Murfreesboro and reporting to the Chief Engineer – Operations.
Role Overview
Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for detailed processes in connection with manufacturing, routings, master data, time studies, manufacturing bill of materials, and change notices/engineering changes. The role will review new releases for design and manufacturing, support recommendations for new equipment and tooling, and provide shop support to improve coordination and collaboration between Engineering and Operations departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the subject matter expert for selected series of processes, usually defined by common manufacturing equipment or by product
- Oversee and coach supporting engineers or engineering technicians in their daily work to ensure manufacturing excellence
- Responsible for completion of a project or parts of multiple projects of complexity on time and utilize lean/Six Sigma principles and methodologies in making process improvements
- Manage capitalization of equipment and receipt of POs relative to projects leading or supporting
- Perform complex engineering calculations, investigations, and prepare delivery of plans, designs, computation methods and/or reporting
- Manage cycle time balance of each station to ensure output matches delivery schedule
- Determine appropriate assembly fixturing that are complex in nature and sequence of operations
- Review and select required special tooling and equipment
- Collaborate with design engineering to develop corrective actions for product performance issues
- Develop and support recommendations for new equipment and tooling
- Provide technical guidance for minor to complex issues found in production
- Configure or update ERP data to ensure accurate cost and labor calculations

- Ensure manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement across selected series of processes
- Lead projects and parts of multiple projects in delivering process improvements and capital equipment decisions
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering or related field
- Five (5) or more years of experience
Standout Qualifications
- Experience with HVAC products
- Experience with brazing processes
- Experience with electrical wiring
- Familiar with DC torque tools (Cleco/apex tools preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations, and procedure manuals
- Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced environment
- Experience handling EAR‑99 and ITAR documentation
- Detail oriented
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Dedication to timely deliverables and willingness to work outside typical work hours as needed
- Experience with common machining equipment (Lathe, Mill, Drill press, Band Saw, etc.)
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle)
- Drafting skills and 2D/3D CAD experience (Siemens NX preferred)

Pay Range
$82,900.00 – $134,300.00
