Job summary

Ilocatum in Milwaukee seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to bridge design engineering and production, overseeing the introduction of new products, process changes, and production-line layouts.

You will apply Lean concepts to reduce waste, improve quality, and cut costs while maintaining safety and efficiency. The role reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and offers strong growth opportunities on site.

Qualifications

  • BS Engineering and 1–6 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficient in 3D/2D CAD (Siemens NX preferred), Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma.
  • Experience with production line layout is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead introduction of products to the manufacturing floor.
  • Develop operation methods and best assembly practices.
  • Apply Lean concepts to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot production line problems.
  • Lead safety and ergonomic improvements in production.

As the link between design engineering and the production floor you provide the manufacturing expertise needed to implement the production of new products as well as processing changes to existing products. This position is responsible for maintaining production capability, improving quality, reducing cost, improving safety, and maximizing throughout. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

What you will be doing:
  • Plan, support, and lead introduction of products to the manufacturing floor. Manages the integration of new products into existing lines with an understanding of new processes that affect online balance, pFMEA, and line efficiency.
  • Develop Operation Method Sheets (i.e. how best to assemble products)
  • Uses advanced understanding of Lean Concepts and continuous improvement needed for reduction of waste within manufacturing processes
  • Troubleshoot production line problems
  • Lead initiatives that mitigate risk, maintain ISO compliance and reduce costs
  • Lead design initiatives within the manufacturing process, including line / cell layout, tooling, and part flow
  • Capital equipment justification
  • Work to advance safety and ergonomic practices
What they are looking for
  • BS Engineering and 1 to 6 years of experience in manufacturing engineering (if under 3 years’ experience 3.0+ GPA is needed)
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced production environment with multiple projects going on
  • Proficient computer skills including 3D & 2D CAD (Siemens NX would be great), Word, Excel, and Access
  • Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma
  • Any experience with production line layout would be very helpful
