Job summary

Morbark is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team to sustain and improve processes and systems used in our fabrication operations. The role involves independent analyses to plan process implementations for new or modified products and to lead manufacturing improvements.

You will guide problem solving in production methods, layouts, tooling, equipment, materials and assembly processes across pre-, in-, and post-production environments.

Qualifications

  • Analyze manufacturing processes to support management decisions.
  • Lead the acquisition, design, fabrication and repair of tooling and machines.
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day process performance issues and monitor improvements.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing methods with knowledge of processes, materials and equipment.
  • Validate process cycle times by conducting time studies.
  • Provide day-to-day coaching in absence of the team leader; lead process improvements.
  • Respond to customer issues and drive process improvements.
  • Determine labor costs for new assemblies and provide a labor quote to Production Managers.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure product specifications and conformance to quality standards.

Job description

Morbark’s Manufacturing Engineer position works as part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in manufacturing. Manufacturing Engineers work under minimal supervision, independently prepare, conduct, and evaluate analyses for planning process implementation of new or modified product designs to the factory.

The Manufacturing Engineer will also lead problem solving for manufacturing issues (production methods and procedures) in a specific function (including layout, production flow, tooling and production equipment, material fabrication, assembly methods and planning) in a Pre-Production, Production or Post-Production environment.

Overview

Essential Functions of the Job:

  1. Perform technical analysis of manufacturing processes to support management decisions.
  2. Design / direct the acquisition, design, fabrication and repair of all necessary tooling and machines.
  3. Troubleshoots day-to-day process performance issues, develops solutions, and monitors improvements.
  4. Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of manufacturing best practices, product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, test methods, and quality control standards.
  5. Validate process cycle times by conducting time studies;
  6. Provide day-to-day coaching duties in absence of team leader; and
  7. Respond to customer issues and lead process improvements.
