Job summary

Apex Tool Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Lexington, SC to support machining and assembly operations and help design efficient processes. You will work under the Engineering Manager and interact with operators, machinists, and supervisors to improve capability and quality.

The role focuses on CNC programming, CAM/CAD proficiency, and applying continuous improvement to drive productivity and safety in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Five years' experience writing CNC programs in a machining environment.
• Broad understanding of turning and machining technologies and processes.
• Proficient with CAD (solid modeling) and CAM software.
• Proficient with GD&T.
• M&G-Code experience.
• Continuous improvement mindset and positive attitude.
• Strong time management and multi-project coordination.
• Aerospace experience is a plus.
• SolidWorks/AutoCAD and Esprit Cam experience.
• TB DECO and Tornos Swiss CNC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops CNC programs for CNC lathes, vertical/horizontal/multi-axis machines, Swiss Turn.
• Utilize Esprit Cam or MasterCam or SurfCam.
• Establish machining methods and tool sequences.
• Conducts cycle time studies and shares recommendations.
• Assist in evaluating/manufacturing processes; study requirements; design/modify/test methods; utilize ERP.
• Assist setup with process or tooling issues and fixturing.
• Analyze/solve process/tool problems; improve productivity.
• Recommend equipment modifications to meet demand.
• Establish/update manufacturing standards (rates, BOMs).
• Ensure integrity of prints, BOMs, setup sheets, routings.
• Leverage continuous improvement tools for improvements.
• Implement plant capital program: select, justify, purchase equipment.
• Promote safety awareness with plant team.

The Blueprint (Role Profile)

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our flagship manufacturing plant in Lexington, SC. The incumbent will support our machining and assembly departments, providing daily operational support as well as assisting with the design of new process to better service customers. He or she will ensure capability exists to meet product specifications and quality standards while making recommendations for improvements to processes, methods and controls.

The incumbent will report the Engineering Manager, but may take daily direction from one of our Manufacturing Engineers that is assigned to their respective area or department. He or she will also interact with Operators, Machinists, Supervisors and other management team members.

The Build (Responsibilities)

• Develops Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programs for various types of machines (CNC lathes, vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, multi-axis machines, Swiss Turn CNC Machines).
• Utilize Esprit Cam or similar Cam systems such as Master Cam, or SurfCam
• Establishes appropriate machining methods and tool sequences.
• Conducts machine cycle time studies, sharing recommendations and information with team members and other leaders.
• Assists in the evaluation and development of manufacturing processes by studying product requirements and researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment. Utilizes ERP software.
• Assists setup associates with process or tooling issues, recommending necessary fixturing and tooling used in manufacturing.
• Analyzes and solves process and tool-related problems, ensuring or increasing productivity.
• Makes recommendations to modify or replace equipment when necessary to support demand or improve productivity.
• Establish and update manufacturing standards (rates, BOM's, etc.).
• Ensure integrity of prints, bills of material, setup sheets and routings.
• Leverages continuous improvement tools to drive improvements.
• Implements plant capital program through selecting, justifying, and purchasing new equipment
• Promotes safety awareness with other key members of the plant team.

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
• Five years' experience writing CNC programs in a machining environment
• Broad understanding of turning and machining technologies and processes.
• Demonstrated proficiency with CAD (solid modeling) and CAM software
• Proficient with GD&T
• M & G-Code experience.
• Professional and positive attitude as well as a passion for continuous improvement
• Strong time management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects
• Aerospace experience is a plus
• Experience in using Solid Works / Auto Cad and Esprit Cam is a plus
• Experience with TB DECO and Tornos Swiss CNC machines is a plus
