Sabert Corporation in Fort Wayne, Indiana is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead process improvements, improve equipment reliability, and drive waste reduction and throughput. You will support production operations and develop solutions improving safety and quality across manufacturing lines.

The role emphasizes Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on engineering with plastics processing experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing/process engineering/continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience in plastics processing preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root cause analysis.
  • Experience with process optimization and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication and leadership across organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering software incl. SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain process standards and operating conditions to ensure product quality while maximizing production efficiency.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and perform process capability studies to improve consistency, stability, and performance.
  • Investigate quality and production issues using root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Identify, develop, and lead continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, scrap reduction, and cost savings.
  • Support equipment reliability by coordinating maintenance activities, troubleshooting process issues, and implementing equipment upgrades and improvements.
  • Evaluate and implement automation opportunities and labor-saving initiatives to improve throughput and operational performance.
  • Partner with vendors and suppliers to source components, improve equipment functionality, and identify cost-effective alternatives to OEM parts.
  • Maintain process flow documentation and provide technical guidance and support to production and material handling teams.

Description
What is my day to day like?

As our Manufacturing Engineer within the Operations team, you will play a critical role in improving manufacturing processes, equipment reliability, product quality, and operational efficiency. This position leads continuous improvement initiatives, supports production operations, and develops solutions that enhance safety, reduce costs, and increase throughput. The typical day-to-day of this position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain process standards and operating conditions to ensure product quality while maximizing production efficiency.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing, process engineering, or continuous improvement experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving plastics processing.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Experience with process optimization, equipment troubleshooting, and manufacturing systems.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other engineering and manufacturing software applications; including Solid Works.
What will my schedule be like?

This is a full-time position scheduled for 40+ hours per week. Additional hours may be required based on business needs, project implementation schedules, or operational support requirements. The core hours of operation are primarily Monday through Friday, with availability to support manufacturing operations on a 24-hour basis as needed for critical process, equipment, or production issues.
