Manufacturing Fixture Engineer I

Job Summary:

Bellows Systems (BSI) is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Engineer to join our dynamic NPD team and lead the design and implementation of welding, testing, and production fixtures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative manufacturing projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring ideas to life.

The successful candidate will engineer, model, and draft these fixtures with input from design and production teams. Safety is paramount at BSI; sound engineering fundamentals are required to validate designs and display their ability to handle pressure, external loading, assembly weight, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing contractual purchase order and drawing/design requirements to define product, process, and testing requirements.
  • Identification of future development needs: fusion and resistance welding qualifications, welding fixtures, production tooling, and factory acceptance testing tooling.
  • Fixture creation, procurement, and fabrication, including design calculations, manufacturing drawings, and collaborating with procurement to satisfy project timeline.
  • Writing clear and concise procedures and work instructions which communicate how to set up, safely function, and store the fixture.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and designers to build prototypes of new products, using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Assist with development of Nadcap and ASME welding programs and accreditations.
  • Provide technician guidance during testing and validation to ensure the performance, reliability, and safety of prototype, first article, and production units.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, test results, dimensional inspection, and design iterations.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and communicate technical issues during the development process, proposing and implementing effective solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews and reporting feedback for continuous improvement of products and processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Teams).
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing and oral)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Structural design - design by load path/load path analysis
  • Adept technical writing skills pertaining to work instructions and testing procedures.
  • Experience designing, modeling, drafting, and manufacturing.
  • Experience writing, developing, and qualifying test procedures.
  • Experience interpreting customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Practical knowledge of carbon steels, nickel-based alloys, and titanium.
  • Knowledge of fusion and resistance welding specifications and schedules.
  • Knowledge of in ASME Section VIII.
  • Awareness of ASME Section IX and AWS D17.1/D17.2.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US.

May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, and/or smoke (within OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).

Safety training and equipment are provided in accordance with applicable law, industry, and company standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000-$85,000 Annually
