Job summary

Clarios, LLC seeks a Mechanical Engineer for its Geneva, Illinois Dry Assembly Plant. You will drive mechanical engineering activities for battery manufacturing, equipment development, and internal distribution systems.

Expect collaboration across facilities and participation in design validation and production validation builds. You will define processes, develop PFMEA, and align with Program Management regarding scope and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency with Auto CAD, SolidWorks, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering activities for battery manufacturing and related processes.
  • Develop and validate new equipment and processes for production, assembly, and material handling.
  • Define processes via process flow diagrams and PFMEA; prepare equipment SOW/functional specs.
  • Work within matrix organization to meet Program Management requirements and budgets.
  • Collaborate with facilities to implement new processes and equipment; execute validation builds.

What you will do:With minimal direction, this position is responsible for Mechanical Engineering activities related to Automotive Battery manufacturing, preparation for shipment, and separation for distribution process.How you will do it:Develops new equipment and processes for battery manufacturing in accordance with current engineering standards and quality requirements.Develops new equipment and processes for movement, storage, and internal distribution of batteries.Defines processes through Process flow diagrams and PFMEA developmentWorks within matrix organization to deliver requirements of Program Management systemCollaborates with manufacturing facilities to implement new processes and equipment.Executes design validation builds, prototype builds, and production validation builds and testing.Manages Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering projects to scope, on time and within budget requirementsDevelop and expand on existing technologies to address immediate production needs.Specific technological work includes developing, expanding, or modifying Oxide production, plate manufacturing, battery assembly equipment, Battery formation systems, automatic or semi-automatic label application, robotic applications, material handling systems, and battery decoration equipmentWorks within company ERP to verify or modify specific data such as decoration bill of materials, pallet patterns and quantities.What we look forRequiredBachelors or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.Proficiency with Auto CAD, SolidWorks, Excel, Word, Power Point and other related programs.Proficiency in PFMEA and equipment SOW/ functional specs.Preferred3 years or more of experience in automotive Tier-1 is desired.Experience in Battery oxide manufacturing, battery plate manufacturing equipment, labeling, palletizing, material handling, and MES systems is highly desired.Geneva – Dry Assembly PlantGeneva, Illinois is home to a Dry Assembly Plant that manufactures batteries used in the automotive and marine industries. As a fully integrated plant, we also decorate our batteries into the final product for our customers.
