Job summary

Multimatic-In in Fort Wayne, IN seeks a Manufacturing Process Engineer to design and optimize production methods, tooling, and equipment. You will analyze product requirements and costs, develop improved processes, and support maintenance to maximize uptime.

The role emphasizes Kaizen-driven improvements, data-based reporting, and adherence to TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards. You will train technicians and coordinate cross-functional teams on new methods.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and manuals.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical and statistical concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; designing, modifying, and testing methods and equipment.
  • Provide manufacturing cost estimates and production planning data; review schedules and requirements.
  • Create and maintain product/process data bases and generate reports; cooperate with maintenance for equipment uptime.
  • Train and guide technicians; implement Kaizen improvements and problem-solving.
  • Adhere to TS 16949 quality and ISO 14001 environmental standards; emphasize safety.

Initiates and implements process improvements as needed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEvaluate manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors and operatives.Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Provides manufacturing engineering information by seeking process specific advice and guidance.Creates and manages plans to keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.Maintain product and process data base and reporting accordingly.Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.Investigation and problem solving of production issues and making improvements to current operations to enhance efficiency utilizing Kaizen principals.Support and adhere to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (TS 16949) and environmental standards (ISO140001).Maintain a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to apply basic concepts of physical science. REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding and create instructions from technical data or statutes furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
