Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in East Hartford, CT. Role onsite with responsibility for driving manufacturing processes, developing instructions, advancing readiness levels, and collaborating across engineering, tooling, and quality teams.

The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 2+ years of manufacturing experience, and the ability to obtain Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required for government contracts.

  • Familiarity with conventional and/or non‑conventional manufacturing processes.
  • Interest in plasma spray and laser drilling technologies.
  • Strong analytical and data‑driven problem‑solving skills.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to government contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Own part families and drive manufacturing process improvements across operations (plasma spray coating, laser hole drilling).
  • Develop and maintain shop floor work instructions, including specs, engineering changes, process controls, and tooling requirements.
  • Advance MRL elements by identifying risks, implementing mitigation plans, and supporting quality performance.
  • Collaborate with product engineering, tooling, quality, systems engineering, and other stakeholders for manufacturability.
  • Support senior leadership with project pipeline activities including selection, prioritization, scoping, and alignment with CI objectives.
  • Lead major projects tied to insourcing and operational execution.
  • Provide leadership in eliminating EH&S, ergonomics, and human-factor risks while resolving quality issues.

Security Clearance

Secret clearance required. Ability to obtain interim U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels.
  • Familiarity with conventional and/or non‑conventional manufacturing processes.
  • Interest in developing expertise in plasma spray and laser drilling technologies.
  • Strong analytical and data‑driven problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to government contract requirements.
Qualifications We Value
  • Proficiency in plasma spray processes (robot programming, tooling, surface preparation, masking, etc.).
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with statistics, data analytics, Design of Experiments (DOE), and multivariate analysis.
  • Proficiency with SAP and Solumina G7.
