Qualifications

  • U.S. work authorization now or in the future is required.
  • ITAR-controlled work; must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR.
  • No relocation offered within 70 miles of Davenport, IA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cost-out events and drive continuous improvement.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to reduce waste and variability.
  • Participate in concurrent engineering and design reviews to control costs and extend product life.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing and Value Engineering initiatives.
  • Develop work breakdown structures to estimate costs and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Participate in new product development using program management tools to maintain schedules.
  • Develop and integrate new processes to provide competitive advantages.
  • Prepare Capital Appropriation Requests with payback and net present value analyses.

Eaton’s AER MSD Mission System Division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer. This role is based in Davenport, IA.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $71000 - $105000 a year.

What you’ll do:
  • Leads cost-out events and promotes a culture of continuous improvement
  • Applies Lean-Manufacturing and 6-Sigma Techniques to eliminate waste, reduce process variation and to deliver products that meet customer expectations
  • Participates in concurrent engineering efforts and critical design reviews to minimize product development costs and maximize useful life of products
  • Conducts Design for Manufacturing and value engineering initiatives as applicable
  • Develops work breakdown structures as a tool to develop cost estimates and to identify opportunities for cost reduction
  • Participates in new product development projects using program management tools to articulate deliverables and maintain schedules
  • Develops and integrates new processes and methodologies as to provide competitive advantages for the business
  • Composes Capital Appropriation Requests (including payback and net present value analysis) for acquisition of equipment to support emerging and existing technologies

Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. “Green Card Holder”), Political Asylee or Refugee.
  • No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 70 miles of Davenport, IA. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior work experience preferred
  • 2+ years of factory floor experience
  • Minimum of one year of experience with:
    • Lean/continuous improvement
    • Root Cause problem solving
    • Developing assembly processes, routings, work instructions, and procedures
    • Aerospace Industry experience
