Job summary

General Motors' Lockport operations is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production processes across Stamping, Assembly, and Robotic Welding, ensuring efficient, safe and reliable day-to-day manufacturing.

You will develop and implement processes, analyze blueprints, troubleshoot equipment, and collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability of new products. This onsite role offers hands-on engineering work in a dynamic, high-volume environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of equivalent experience in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with machining and assembly processes.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, and documentation to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints and machine schematics to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
  • Provide technical support and expertise for the setup, operation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Identify and implement solutions for repairing mechanical equipment, minimizing downtime and maximizing output.
  • Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes.
  • Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area.
  • Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and components.
  • Provide direction to engineering support groups and vendors.
  • Evaluate or monitor expenditures on processes and/or equipment.

The Role

We are seeking a driven Manufacturing Engineer to shape the future of our Lockport operations. In this role, you will optimize production processes and ensure the efficient, day-to-day success of our Stamping, Assembly, and Robotic Welding facilities.

What You’ll Do

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree (or 4+ years of equivalent experience) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands‑on experience and a strong understanding of various machining and assembly processes.
  • Proven ability to rapidly troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical equipment.

  • Strong proficiency in reading, interpreting, and applying blueprints and machine schematics.
  • Ability to evaluate a diverse range of complex issues and propose creative, alternative solutions.
  • Direct, hands‑on experience with robotic welding systems.
  • High proficiency in SolidWorks design software.
Compensation
  • The expected base compensation for this role is: $107,600.00 - $156,700.00. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
