Overview

As a leader in image guidance solutions, IMRIS Imaging, Inc. provides optimized, fully integrated image-guided therapy environments that address the important needs of patients, clinicians, and hospitals by delivering timely MRI and imaging data to clinicians for use during surgical or interventional procedures. The IMRIS Surgical Theatre enables intraoperative imaging directly within operating rooms. The Company also designs and manufactures proprietary head fixation devices, imaging coils and OR tables for use in this unique and multifunctional intraoperative environment. It is estimated that over 70,000 patients have benefited from lifesaving or life-extending procedures performed in an IMRIS Surgical Theatre. IMRIS will continue to integrate new intraoperative imaging technologies and shape the future of neurosurgery in operating rooms worldwide.


We are searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role will be performed on-site and is based in the Greater Twin Cities area at our Chaska, MN headquarters. Please note: There is no relocation offered for this role. The ideal candidate should currently reside in the Greater Twin Cities area.

The Manufacturing Engineer provides guidance throughout the entire product development process, from conception to production. This role involves collaborating with engineers and designers to develop processes, procedures, and instructions for the assembly, testing, packaging, and labeling of IMRIS products. The Manufacturing Engineer also troubleshoots production issues and enhances manufacturing efficiency by applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and troubleshoot manufacturing processes while monitoring performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with production staff, quality assurance, materials management, and R&D.
  • Provide technical support to the production department to meet quality and production goals.
  • Develop assembly and work instructions, as well as documentation, including production travelers.
  • Maintain medical device industry workmanship standards.
  • Perform risk assessments of processes and procedures.
  • Train technicians on new processes and procedures as needed.
  • Apply IMRIS QMS standards to production processes.
  • Coordinate and conduct Kaizen events for targeted improvements.
  • Generate comprehensive protocols for process validations.
  • Work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing new suppliers into the IMRIS system.
  • Travel to customers or suppliers as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

  • Reports to Director of Operations
  • Works collaboratively with production, quality, and R&D teams.
  • No direct reports; may provide informal guidance to technicians.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–4 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Basic understanding of materials, electro-mechanical designs, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for statistical data collection.
