Job summary

Multimatic-In in Butler, Indiana, seeks an engineer to specify and purchase capi tal equipment and tooling for new programs and modifications, launching them on the production floor and supporting ongoing production.

The role requires a mechanical or industrial engineering degree, 2+ years of hands-on steel processing experience, and strong GD&T knowledge. Proficiency in SolidWorks and root-cause problem solving is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering.
  • 2+ years hands-on experience in high-volume steel processing/manufacturing is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and datum schemes.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD.

Responsibilities

  • Feasibility study, estimate, quote, evaluate, specify and purchase capital equipment and tooling for new programs or modifications to existing programs.
  • Interact with vendors to meet our standards and performance expectations.
  • Launch equipment to production floor and support ongoing production throughout the program cycle.
  • Develop timelines, troubleshoot via root-cause analysis, and maintain process documentation.
  • Maintain and organize CAD drawings and drawing database; work with program managers and quality engineers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESFeasibility study, estimate, quote, evaluate, specify and purchase capital equipment and tooling for new programs or modifications to existing programs to budget.Interact and direct vendors to provide equipment and tooling to our standards and performance expectations.Launch equipment and tooling to production floor and support on-going production throughout program cycle.Ability to develop time lines and maintain through follow upAbility to troubleshoot through root cause analysis and provide technical support for daily plant operations.Develop and maintain process documentation and assist with quality documentation.Understand and perform tolerance stack ups. Solid understanding of GD &T and datum scheme.Investigate and Implement cost reductions through process improvements.Record lessons learned and revise system documentation to reduce reoccurrence.Responsible for producing CAD drawings when required.Maintains plant layout for efficient product flow within equipmentMaintain and organize drawing database – CAD and hard copies.Works directly with skilled trades, program managers and quality engineers.Manage and execute actions from ECN/ECR system.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write instructions, plant operating procedures, and routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, regulatory agencies, and employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
