Job summary

Accelera in Bolingbrook, IL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team on a 1st shift, full-time contract-to-hire basis. You will work at the center of automation, new product introduction, and manufacturing engineering, collaborating with leadership, supply chain, operations, and design teams.

The role focuses on improving manufacturing efficiency, cost control, delivery timelines, product quality, and workplace safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering.
• Strong analytical abilities with proven root-cause analysis.
• Proficiency with manufacturing data and analytical tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee manufacturing engineering initiatives across the full project lifecycle from concept to production.
• Develop and implement production machinery, workflows, SOPs and work instructions.
• Improve operational output by streamlining processes and reducing waste.
• Evaluate technical documentation for engineering requirements and feasibility.
• Act as manufacturing representative in design meetings to guide product lifecycle.
• Contribute to successful product rollouts by improving process reliability and manufacturability.
• Determine capital equipment needs and plan for new manufacturing technologies.
• Drive process optimization and equipment upgrades across manufacturing assets.
• Create fixtures, tooling, and error-proofing to maintain a safe workplace.
• Engage in DFM, FMEA, Process Mapping, 8‑Step Problem Solving, and Quality Control Plans.

Role: Manufacturing Engineer

Employment Status: Full-Time Contract-to-Hire (Seeking long-term commitment)
Schedule: 1st Shift
Pay Rate: $43-50 per hour

This position places you at the center of automation, new product creation, and manufacturing engineering, where you will collaborate closely with leadership, supply chain, operations, and design teams. You will gain high-level exposure and play a pivotal role in driving improvements in manufacturing efficiency, cost management, delivery timelines, product quality, and workplace safety.

Core Duties

Oversee manufacturing engineering initiatives, managing the full project lifecycle from conceptual planning and validation through to final production deployment.

• Investigate and create modern production machinery, workflows, SOPs, and detailed work instructions.
• Help boost overall operational output by finding ways to streamline processes, cut down on waste, and improve efficiency.
• Evaluate technical documentation to ensure it meets engineering requirements, project timelines, and manufacturing feasibility.
• Act as a manufacturing representative during design meetings to provide guidance throughout the entire product lifecycle.
• Contribute to successful product rollouts by finding ways to enhance process reliability, lower production expenses, and improve manufacturability.
• Determine necessary capital equipment needs and create strategies for integrating new manufacturing technologies.
• Drive process optimization and equipment upgrades to improve performance across all manufacturing assets.
• Create and install fixtures, tooling, and error-proofing systems to help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team.
• Engage in DFM initiatives, FMEA, Process Mapping, 8-Step Problem Solving, Quality Control Plans, and Rapid Improvement Events.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline.

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or engineering setting.
• High proficiency in computer software, specifically regarding manufacturing data and analytical tools.
• Strong analytical abilities with a proven track record of utilizing root cause analysis to solve complex issues.

Desired Qualifications (Optional)

Experience in engineering leadership or project management.

• Certifications in Red X, Six Sigma, or similar structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Proficiency with CAM/CAD software.
• Background in collaborating across various departments, including supply chain, operations, and engineering.
• Knowledge of manufacturing transformation, Industry 4.0, and advanced automation optimization.
