Job summary

API Delevan, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize tooling, processes, and workflows in an onsite role at our Alabama facility.

You will develop manufacturing methods, improve quality, and drive cost reductions while aligning with safety and environmental standards. You will partner with Design Engineering on product changes, support new product launches, and ensure clear work instructions and routings for production teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering.
  • CNC machining, robotics or test equipment experience preferred.
  • 3+ years in manufacturing/machining with process or product improvements.
  • Experience with turning, milling, and grinding is desired.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly and electromechanical power transmission.
  • Knowledge of advanced quality tools and lean manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Suggest improvements to increase worker efficiency and reduce waste.

Job description

Work Model: This is a fully onsite role, with work performed at your designated Regal Rexnord office.

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for applying engineering principles through planning and development of tools, methods, processes, facility, and equipment that maximize quality of the final product in the most effective, efficient, and economic way possible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Maintain and ensure quality of machined components and finished assemblies by identifying, evaluating, and resolving production, process, and quality problems.
  • Recommend improvements for worker efficiency and reduction of waste through striving for True North, restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment to support one-piece flow where applicable.
  • Prepare estimates and cost justification for implementation of process improvements including labor, equipment, material costs and assembly capabilities.
  • Confer with vendors to determine product specifications for equipment, materials, or parts and evaluate products according to production needs and quality standards.
  • Work closely with Design Engineering on product design changes and/or new product development to include evaluation of tooling, fixtures, workflow, and workstations.
  • Owns and supports new product launches.
  • Design workflow, workstations, and work cells in accordance with safety, environmental and ergonomic standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve production routings to provide clear and necessary work instructions to production associates.
  • Strive to improve quality and reduce product cost.
  • Provide leadership, technical support, and instruction for manufacturing personnel on new assembly and/or machining procedures.
  • Assist with work measurement programs and analyzing work samples for developing standards for labor utilization.

  • Strong analytical ability to recognize the need for modification of procedures or processes, identify root cause, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions where limited standardization or information exists.
  • Strong interpersonal skills which foster teamwork and collaboration and develop high quality working relationships to influence, gain support, and achieve results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively deliver and transfer knowledge of technical concepts to production associates and respond to questions.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle proprietary and sensitive information with integrity.
  • Intermediate to advanced level proficiency with CAD and MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willing and able to occasionally travel domestically to other sites, vendor and/or customer visits, training events, trade shows, etc.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Education or training in CNC Machining, robotics, and/or test equipment is desired.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing production and/or machining environment with proven success in implementing process or product improvements is preferred.
  • Experiencing turning, milling, and grinding processes is desired.
  • Prior experience with mechanical assembly, product testing, electromechanical power transmission technology and standard facility equipment applications is desired.Experience using advanced quality tools and/or lean manufacturing concepts is desired.
