Job summary

Argon Medical Devices in Plano, Texas, is seeking a process engineer to lead and participate in evaluating, designing, and developing more efficient manufacturing methods for Argon products. You will provide ongoing production support and effectively manage progress toward project goals for management decisions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and 3–5 years of related experience, plus proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Minitab, and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of related experience.
  • Experience with statistical methods and process control is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated process engineering support for development and manufacture of Argon Medical Device products.
  • Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability from sustaining engineering, product development and custom product solutions engineering.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives (VIP - Value Improvement Projects).
  • Analyze workforce utilization and space requirements to design efficient layouts.
  • Estimate production times, staffing needs and related costs for management decisions.
  • Perform root cause analysis of product/process issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to upgrade equipment and automate processes while meeting regulatory requirements.

Position Overview:

Lead and participate in evaluating, designing and develop better and more efficient ways to manufacture product and provide ongoing production support for Argon Medical products and manufacturing sites. Effectively manage and communicate progress towards project goals to management.

What you will do:
  • Provide dedicated process engineering support for the development and manufacture of Argon Medical Device products.
  • Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability from the following departments: sustaining engineering, product development and custom product solutions engineering.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement manufacturing related cost saving initiatives (VIP - Value Improvement Projects).
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Perform root cause analysis of product/process issues and implement short and long-term corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.
  • Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Analyze product designs and production processes for the purpose of improving manufacturing yields, improving manufacturing scrap and other relevant key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Develop and implement process qualification protocols and reports.
  • Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding production capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate future production requirements and potential.
  • Execute problem solving, efficiency studies, and the identification of process improvement opportunities.
  • Aid in troubleshooting manufacturing areas.
  • Work in conjunction with cross-functional teams to identify, recommend and implement the upgrade and automation of current equipment and the purchase of new equipment within regulatory requirements.
  • Lead functional and cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
  • Mentor junior manufacturing engineers in project management activities.
Skills for Success:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required.
  • 3-5 years of related experience required.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Minitab, Word, Excel and Project

  • Working knowledge of MRP systems

  • Experience in product production planning and working knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and cost reduction/yield improvement techniques.

  • Experience in the application of statistical techniques such as statistical process control, design of experiments, and problem-solving techniques is required.

  • Experience with design, review, execution, and approval of Installation, Operation and Process Qualification protocols and reports (IQ/OQ/PQ).

Preferred Education and experience

  • Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
