Job summary

Rochester Precision Optics is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to support and maintain EHS programs in our precision manufacturing environment. You will partner with operations, facilities, and HR to promote a safe workplace and regulatory compliance while actively participating on the production floor.

The role involves audits, employee training coordination, and incident follow‑up, with a focus on continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in environmental health & safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum 3 years of experience supporting EHS programs in manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations; familiarity with EPA/NYSDEC or local regulations is beneficial.
• Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, incident follow‑up, training coordination, or compliance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation and maintenance of EHS programs across manufacturing and facilities operations.
• Partner with leadership to identify risks, support compliance initiatives, and address EHS concerns.
• Conduct routine facility inspections, safety audits, and compliance assessments (OSHA/EPA/NY regs).
• Coordinate industrial hygiene activities, including exposure monitoring and documentation.
• Track corrective actions and EHS-related items for timely resolution and continuous improvement.
• Maintain OSHA 300 logs and support regulatory reporting.
• Coordinate EHS training and maintain training records.
• Assist development and improvement of EHS procedures and documentation.
• Support emergency preparedness and coordinate with external agencies as needed.
