Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of drafting experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 2D and 3D drafting/modeling.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, or assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Transform concepts into 2D drawings and 3D models for manufactured parts and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Create production-ready fabrication drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Apply tolerances (GD&T) to ensure drawings meet company, capability, and industry standards.

Noveon is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Drafter to support its growing manufacturingoperations. We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Drafter to support our manufacturing andparts production operations by creating detailed technical drawings, models, and productiondocumentation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a manufacturing environment andcan work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure accurate andefficient part designs.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Core Design & Drafting
  • Transform Concepts into Reality: Interpreting engineering sketches, concepts,and specifications to develop precise 2D drawings and 3D models for manufactured parts and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Deliver Production-Ready Documentation: Creating comprehensive fabricationdrawings, detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), and clear work instructions.
  • Ensure Quality & Standards: Applying appropriate tolerances (GD&T) to ensure alldrawings comply with company standards, manufacturing capabilities, and industry requirements.
Collaboration & Support
  • Transform Concepts into Reality: Interpreting engineering sketches, concepts,and specifications to develop precise 2D drawings and 3D models for manufactured parts and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Bridge Design and Production: Collaborating closely with engineering andmanufacturing teams to support production processes, prototype development, and product improvements.
  • Troubleshoot & Resolve: Assisting in diagnosing and solving design andproduction issues related to fabricated or machined parts on the shop floor.
Data & File Management
  • Maintain Version Control: Managing drawing revisions and engineering changenotices (ECNs) within the company documentation control systems to ensure data integrity.
  • Organize CAD Ecosystems: Maintaining strict organization of CAD files, templates, and associated technical documentation.
Innovation, Automation & AI
  • Drive AI & Automation: Identifying opportunities to integrate AI tools andautomated macros into our current SolidWorks workflows to eliminate repetitive tasks and improve design speed.
  • Evaluate Emerging Tech: Partnering with the team to test, evaluate, and adoptemerging AI drafting technologies and continuous improvement initiatives to boost overall manufacturing efficiency.
We are Looking for Someone Who:
  • Has an Associate Degree or Technical Certification in Drafting, EngineeringTechnology, or related field preferred.
  • Possesses 2–3 years of drafting experience in a manufacturing or productionenvironment.
  • If proficient in SolidWorks for 2D and 3D drafting/modeling.
  • Can read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Holds an understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication,or assembly.
  • Can display a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Is able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiar with creating detailed drawings for sheet metal, machined parts, and complexwelded assemblies.
  • Has a working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to ensureflawless manufacturing and assembly fitment.
  • Familiar with working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) or PDM/PLM document managementsoftware to track parts and engineering changes.
Shop Floor Collaboration

Background directly supporting production, manufacturing engineering, or prototypingteams to streamline assembly processes.

  • Acquainted utilizing, testing, or implementing AI-driven drafting tools, generative designfeatures, or AI-based QA/QC markup software.
  • Possesses proactive interest in leveraging technology to automate repetitive draftingtasks, accelerate drawing reviews, and optimize overall throughput.
  • Familiar with creating SolidWorks macros, utilizing SolidWorks API, working with designautomation tools (like DriveWorks), or writing simple automation scripts (e.g., Python, VBA) is a major plus.
Work Environment
  • Able to move up to 20lbs.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Can wear PPE.
  • Is capable of making repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting, and walking up and down stairs.
