Job summary

Matic is seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineering Intern who will work at the intersection of R&D and production, translating product designs into robust, scalable manufacturing solutions. You will use CAD tools to design fixtures, tooling, and equipment, develop assembly processes, and improve workflows for high-volume production.

Under guidance from experienced engineers, you’ll prototype, fabricate, and iterate, perform component testing, and contribute to design for manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing and building mechanical parts, fixtures, or assemblies is preferred.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and creating engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC, injection molding, casting, welding, or mechanical assembly.
• Hands-on prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build production fixtures, QC equipment, and tooling for assembly and testing.
• Collaborate with product design, quality, and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot issues and support new launches.
• Work with vendors and contract manufacturers with the engineering team.
• Perform root cause analysis on production issues and yield data; implement corrective actions.
• Prototype, fabricate, and iterate to turn concepts into reliable manufacturing solutions.
• Test components for performance, durability, reliability, and variability.
• Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, specifications, and assembly/test instructions.
• Support design for manufacturability to improve cost-effectiveness and scalability.
