Job summary

Ion Storage Systems in Beltsville, MD is seeking a Manufacturing Data Engineer to own data ingestion from production and lab equipment, connect MES (Odoo) to the data platform, and design bronze-to-silver-to-gold pipelines for dashboards and analyses used by engineers and executives.

Reporting to the CTO, this hands-on role requires building and maintaining SQL schemas, ETL/ELT pipelines, and working across IT/OT, Linux and Windows, with strong emphasis on data quality and AI-assisted

Qualifications

• Experience building production data pipelines with SQL databases.
• Ability to connect production equipment, labs, and sensors to databases.
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes and data orchestration.
• Comfort in Linux and Windows environments and scripting.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools used to improve coding and debugging.
• Experience with MES integration or ERP/MES tools (Odoo) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and own data ingestion from production equipment, lab instruments, and sensors into databases.
• Support the stand-up of the Odoo MES: connect equipment and batch records to the data layer.
• Design and maintain SQL schemas and bronze/silver/gold transformations.
• Build and operate ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration; monitor and fix them.
• Analyze stored data with cross-functional teams to generate data solutions.
• Apply AI tools thoughtfully to coding, debugging, and documentation.
