Job summary

American Leather seeks a Cost Accounting Manager in Dallas, TX. This senior individual contributor will establish and lead the cost accounting function, own standard costing in Oracle ERP, and partner with Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and Finance to translate product specs into accurate cost models.

Responsibilities include profitability reporting, margin analysis, inventory reserves, and driving data-based improvements in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience in manufacturing is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting standard cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience owning inventory valuation, manufacturing variance analysis, and product costing methodologies.
• Experience with Oracle ERP and BI/reporting tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish and continuously improve the cost accounting function, including governance, controls, reporting, and performance metrics.
• Own the standard costing system in Oracle ERP for all products, materials, labor, and overhead.
• Lead costing ownership transition from operations to Finance and evaluate financial impact of sourcing decisions and process improvements.
• Develop and maintain profitability and gross margin reporting across product lines and channels.
• Analyze manufacturing variances, identify root causes, and propose corrective actions.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and support month-end close related to inventories and costs.
