Job summary

AMETEK Amptek in Bedford, MA seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to lead manufacturing cost accounting, inventory controls, and standard costing. You will maintain cost systems, analyze variances, and support SOX compliance, budgeting, and capital projects with accurate reporting.

You will partner with operations and engineering to improve cost accuracy, develop dashboards, load BOMs and overhead rates, and provide timely insights for management decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing cost accounting experience in a standard cost environment.
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations through costing, inventory management, and financial analysis.
• SOX Section 404 internal control assessment experience.

Responsibilities

• Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance: Apply finance and cost accounting principles to planning, reporting, and analysis.
• Maintain cost accounting systems, cost controls, and data integrity.
• Coordinate manufacturing operations analysis including sales and cost of sales, labor reporting, product costing, and inventory adjustments.
• Develop understanding of cost flows, overhead allocations, and material costs to ensure proper costing.
• Inventory Management & Controls: Lead physical inventory activities and reconcile records monthly.
• Coordinate inventory processes across departments, stockrooms, and vendors; oversee fixed asset and 4-Wall inventory.
• Review inventory levels, reserves, obsolescence, scrap, intercompany transfers; monitor cycle counts.
• Standard Costing: Ensure accurate product costing; load standard costs into ERP; perform make-versus-buy analyses.
• Variance Analysis & Reporting: Analyze labor utilization, price variances, and procurements; prepare monthly performance reports.
• Financial Accounting & Capital Management: Prepare journal entries; track capital spending; assist budgets.
• Systems, Analytics & Process Improvement: Develop reports and dashboards; drive process improvements; document controls.
• Collaboration, Compliance & Audit Support: Work with cross-functional teams; support audits; SOX compliance.
