Job summary

The Sterling Choice is partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization to identify a Cost Accountant to join its team. This role works closely with plant operations on product costing and cost performance.

You will analyze variances, review labor, overhead, material usage, and prepare recurring cost reports for management. A Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in manufacturing are required, with strong financial analysis skills expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory, manufacturing costs, and financial analysis.
  • Experience analyzing labor, overhead, material, yield, or production variances.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and review product costing and inventory information for accuracy.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and identify drivers behind variances.
  • Review labor, overhead, material usage, yield, and production variances.
  • Compare actual results against budgets and expected costs.
  • Investigate discrepancies between operational activity and financial results.
  • Assist with general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Partner with plant leadership to explain financial results and cost trends.
  • Prepare and present recurring cost and variance reports to management.
  • Support month-end close activities related to inventory and manufacturing costs.
  • Serve as a financial resource to operations and identify cost-control opportunities.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements within accounting and manufacturing.
