Job summary

• Approximately 5 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting, internal controls, and/or manufacturing operations.
• Experience implementing or improving accounting and financial reporting processes.
• Experience with Sage or QuickBooks preferred.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing, production, inventory, and cost accounting processes.

Responsibilities

• Apply cost accounting and analytical skills to measure and evaluate manufacturing operations.
• Maintain and improve financial internal controls and accounting processes.
• Review production data entries for accuracy and resolve discrepancies with Production Leads.
• Partner with production teams to maintain accurate inventory tracking.
• Calculate actual production costs including raw materials and labor.
• Develop reporting related to inventory, production, actual costs, yield variances, and cost variances.
• Assist with month-end close and consolidation processes.
• Collaborate with sales support and logistics to ensure timely invoicing.
• Lead monthly inventory process and ensure inventory accuracy.
• Track warranty claims from filing through completion.
• Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities as needed.
• Review and code expenses and ensure timely reporting of expenditures.
• Prepare financial reporting for monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.

Manufacturing Cost Accountant

Position Overview

This position provides accounting support for warehouse and manufacturing functions, including analysis of cost and inventory data, freight, and related systems and procedures. The role will collaborate closely with production, accounting, inventory, sales support, and logistics teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply cost accounting and analytical skills, along with knowledge of production processes, to measure and evaluate manufacturing operations.
• Maintain and improve financial internal controls and accounting processes.
• Review production data entries for accuracy and work with Production Leads to resolve discrepancies and identify process improvements.
• Partner with production teams to maintain accurate inventory tracking.
• Calculate actual production costs, including raw materials and labor.
• Develop reporting related to inventory, production, actual costs, yield variances, and cost variances.
• Work with the accounting team to complete the manufacturing accounting month-end close process.
• Collaborate with sales support and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
• Lead the monthly inventory process and ensure inventory accuracy.
• Track warranty claims from initial filing through completion.
• Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities as needed.
• Review and code expenses and ensure timely reporting of expenditures.
• Prepare financial reporting and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close and consolidation processes.
• Prepare manual journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist with special projects and other accounting initiatives assigned by the Controller.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
• Approximately 5 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting, internal controls, and/or manufacturing operations.
• Experience implementing or improving accounting and financial reporting processes.
• Experience with Sage or QuickBooks preferred.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing, production, inventory, and cost accounting processes.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
• Creative problem solver with strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; intermediate Excel skills preferred.
