Job summary

City of Lincoln seeks a Manufacturing Coordinator 2 to oversee advanced coordination and planning for efficient production workflows. You will manage routings, labor estimates, capacity constraints, and dispatch work to internal and external resources.

Collaboration with vendors and internal teams is essential to meet production goals. Responsibilities include reviewing orders, maintaining ERP data, and driving continuous improvement to improve planning accuracy and throughput.

  • Aim for targets in OEE, on-time delivery and quality.
  • Review and validate manufacturing orders for completeness and feasibility.
  • Support and guide Manufacturing Coordinator I on tracking and material assignment.
  • Maintain ERP with routing, labor estimates and vendor capacity data.
  • Participate in continuous improvement to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Contribute to annual department objectives and team discussions.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Coordinator 2 is responsible for advanced coordination and planning activities that support efficient production workflows. This role focuses on routings, labor estimation, identifying and presenting capacity constraints, and dispatching work to internal and external resources. The role collaborates closely with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely and cost-effective execution of manufacturing orders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Estimate labor time required for setup and run operations based on job specifications and historical data.
  • Apply routings and operational sequences to manufacturing prints to ensure accurate and efficient production planning.
  • Coordinate capacity availability with external vendors to align with production schedules and deadlines.
  • Dispatch work to internal and external work centers, ensuring proper prioritization and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and production teams to resolve production issues and optimize workflow.
  • Responsible for achieving work center and vendor performance targets (OEE, on-time, quality).
  • Review and validate manufacturing orders for completeness, accuracy, and feasibility.
  • Support Manufacturing Coordinator I by providing guidance and oversight on order tracking, resolving issues, material assignment and issues.
  • Maintain and update ERP system with routing, labor estimates, and vendor capacity data.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy and production efficiency.
  • Achieve annual departmental vision and strategy objectives.
  • Contribute and bring new ideas to weekly team discussions.
  • Responsible for complying with all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes related to metal fabrication and assembly.
    • Raw Material makeup and application use
    • Machining (tooling, setup, machining equipment)
    • Routing principles
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials management, and vendor coordination
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of Associate degree in Machine Tooling, Engineering, or technical certification preferred.
  • 5-10 years' experience in manufacturing, production or related role
  • Manufacturing programming experience preferred.
