Descripción del empleo

We are hiring a hands-on Manufacturing Controller to own the accounting function across both companies. You will report directly to the CFO/COO and be the senior accounting leader on site.

This is a build-and-own role, not a maintain-the-status-quo role. You will get inventory and the general ledger to an audit-ready standard, take over monthly reporting, lead the company through audits, reviews and a quality of earnings (QoE) engagement, and lead the integration of newly acquired companies into our books and systems.

Key responsibilities
Inventory and cost accounting
  • Own inventory accounting across raw materials, WIP and finished goods, including standard costs, overhead absorption and variance analysis.
  • Lead physical counts and cycle counts; reconcile the perpetual inventory in the ERP (Infor Visual) to the general ledger.
  • Establish reserves for excess, obsolete and slow-moving inventory, and support job costing and margin analysis by part and program.
  • Account for intercompany activity between the two companies, including parts machined at MMI for SSL products.
Reconciliations and general ledger
  • Own all balance sheet reconciliations monthly: cash, AR, AP, inventory, accrued purchases (received-not-invoiced), fixed assets, prepaids, accruals and intercompany.
  • Clean up historical balances and unreconciled items, and document the support for each account.
  • Supervise AP and AR staff; ensure invoices are matched to POs and receipts, collections are current and cash is applied accurately.
Close and reporting
  • Run a timely monthly close (target: 10 business days, then faster) with a documented close checklist.
  • Produce monthly financial statements for both companies and on a combined basis, with variance commentary for leadership.
  • Build KPI reporting: gross margin by product line, backlog and bookings, inventory turns, DSO/DPO and cash forecast.
Audits and Reviews
  • Serve as primary point of contact for our outside CPA firm on annual audits and reviews; prepare PBC schedules and manage the timeline.
  • Lead preparation for a quality of earnings engagement: monthly trial balances, revenue and margin bridges, EBITDA adjustments, net working capital analysis and data-room support.
  • Respond to customer and government financial inquiries, including support for cost or pricing data on proposals.
Acquisition integration
  • Lead the accounting integration of newly acquired companies: opening balance sheet, purchase price allocation support, chart of accounts mapping and conversion into our ERP.
  • Standardize processes, controls and reporting so each acquired company closes on the same calendar as SSL and MMI.
Controls and systems
  • Design and document internal controls appropriate for a growing defense manufacturer (segregation of duties, approvals, PO and payment controls).
  • Improve use of Infor Visual and reporting tools; automate manual reconciliations and reports where practical.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years as a controller or assistant controller in a manufacturing company.
  • Deep, hands-on inventory and cost accounting experience (standard costing, WIP, overhead absorption, reserves).
  • Proven record of cleaning up books and owning full balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Has led companies through external audits or reviews as the primary client contact.
  • Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and advanced Excel skills.
  • U.S. person status, as required for access to ITAR-controlled information.
Preferred
  • CPA.
  • Aerospace and defense experience, including DFARS, FAR cost principles, or support of certified / other-than-certified cost or pricing data.
  • Quality of earnings, sell-side diligence or M&A integration experience.
  • Experience with Infor Visual or a comparable mid-market manufacturing ERP.
  • Experience consolidating multiple related entities with intercompany activity.
