Job summary

Global Compression Services is seeking a Manufacturing CNC Lathe operator to set up and run CNC lathes to meet customer specs. You will read blueprints, perform basic math, and manage tooling and programming concepts in a high-volume shop environment.

The role requires following written instructions with minimal supervision, maintaining tolerance standards, and keeping the work area clean while handling tools and stock carefully. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years CNC job shop experience
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out written or diagram form instructions
  • Ability to work with several concrete variables in standardized situations

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate CNC lathes to machine parts to customer requirements
  • Work in a high-volume environment
  • Read basic blueprints and perform basic job shop mathematical calculations
  • Understand CNC operation with set-ups, tooling, and programming concepts (feeds and speeds)
  • Follow written instructions with minimal supervision
  • Maintain true position tolerance and Cartesian coordinate systems
  • Keep work area clean and tools/equipment properly handled

What You'll Do
  • Primary duty is to set-up and operate CNC lathes to machine parts to customer requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a high-volume environment.
  • Must be able to read basic blueprints and perform basic job shop mathematical calculations.
  • Familiar with CNC operation and possess a basic understanding of set-ups, tooling, and programming concepts, as well as feeds and speeds.
  • Must be able to follow written instructions and to work with little supervision.
  • Basic understanding of true position tolerance and Cartesian coordinate systems.
  • Cleanliness of the work area and proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent damage or loss.
