Job summary

Hi-Tech Manufacturing, LLC seeks a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist III to set up and run complex parts with minimal supervision. You will select tooling, update fixturing, and pull CNC programs to meet customer specs.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years in machining, strong GD&T and CNC programming knowledge, and ability to perform NPIs and first articles. Expect a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment with Lean initiatives.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of work experience in machining or related field.
• Trade school, vocational education, or four years formal apprenticeship completed.
• Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T principles.
• Extensive knowledge of CNC programming and G&M code."
• Proficient with inspection tools and gauges (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
• Experience with CFA/FA/SCR NPIs and first articles.

Responsibilities

• Load and run parts per manufacturing plans or product specs.
• Monitor tooling wear and change tools as required.
• Inspect parts with calipers, mics, height gauges, and other gauges.
• Perform setups on production parts and NPI work (CFA, FA, SCR).
• Provide feedback for DFM reviews and tooling requirements during NPIs.
• Meet standard times and communicate when over/under calls occur.
• Promote Lean Manufacturing and 5S, maintain safety and housekeeping.

SUMMARY

The CNC Lathe Machinist III is required to set-up and run the most complex proven or new parts with little to no supervision. Responsible for the machining of products in order to meet customer specifications. Operation and light set-up would be done by selecting and installing tooling, updating fixturing, and pulling CNC machining programs.

JOB

• Load parts (Ability to load and run parts per Manufacturing plan or Product Specifications)
• Monitor tooling wear and changing tools as required per tool life monitoring.
• Inspect parts with mechanical gauges (calipers, mics, height gauges, pins, etc.)
• Perform setups on production parts and NPI work (CFA, FA, and SCR jobs)
• CFA – Customer Frist Article or NPI
• FA – Internal First Article or new process
• SCR – Customer new process or customer engineering change request
• Perform tool, offset changes on setup, and submit a passing internal first article to QA.
• Ability to provide feedback during Design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews during initial manufacturing review.
• Provide feedback to programming on feed, speed, and tooling requirements when performing a NPI setup.
• Meet job standard times consistently. Communicate to lead or supervisor when jobs are over or under called out standards.
• Deburr work in process.
• Promote the company initiative of Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement projects and 5S implementation and sustainment.
• Clock in and off operations according to sequence number of the work order.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Minimum five to seven years work experience
• Five years of trade school, vocational education, or four years formal apprenticeship
• Comprehensive knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of blueprint reading, GD & T
• Extensive knowledge of accepted inspection practices
• Extensive knowledge of CNC programming and G & M code
• Extensive probe and tool pre-setter knowledge

PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB

• Visual acuity: near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts
• Hearing ability: ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes to take appropriate action
• Frequently required to stand, walk, push, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
• Frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
